Every fragrance begins with its smallest parts — the individual aromatic molecules and raw materials that each carry their own character and possibilities. Diffusion Bar offers direct access to this elemental level of olfactory practice.

These monthly two-hour sessions open the school’s full collection of aromatic materials for independent exploration. You’ll have access to the material library and basic lab equipment, with space to experiment freely. While the evenings are facilitated—safety guidance, handling basics, and questions about individual molecules will be supported—there is no formal instruction or curriculum. No formulas will be provided, as those are covered in our structured classes. Here, the direction of your exploration is entirely your own.

Diffusion Bar is open to all students who have completed at least one of Odorata or Chimera. This pre-requisite ensures that you know the basics of how to properly use droppers and handle aroma chemicals at your own discretion at Diffusion Bar. It is suitable for any experience level, whether you’re an artist considering scent in your work, just curious about scent or materials, wanting to test out an idea or formula for yourself, or a budding perfumer eager to deepen your familiarity with a broad range of materials.
