Every fragrance begins with its smallest parts: the individual aromatic molecules and raw materials that each carry their own character and possibilities. Diffusion Bar offers direct access to this elemental level of olfactory practice.

These monthly two-hour sessions open the full palette of professional aromatic materials for independent exploration. You’ll have access to the material library and basic lab equipment, with space to experiment freely. While the evenings are facilitated with safety guidance and handling basics, there is no formal instruction or curriculum. No formulas will be provided, as those are covered in our structured classes. Here, the direction of your exploration is entirely your own.

Diffusion Bar is open to all and we highly recommend taking Odorata or Chimera first, as an introduction to the materials and to ensure that you know the basics of how to properly use droppers and handle aroma chemicals at your own discretion at Diffusion Bar. The palette contains hundreds of aroma chemicals, no pre-mixed accords or fragrance oils - these will largely not be readily recognizable scents to be easily blended into a perfume. This is the real raw deal!

So long as you are up for experimentation, and not hoping to create your signature masterpiece in one night, this is suitable for any experience level, whether you’re an artist considering scent in your work, just curious about scent or materials, wanting to test out an idea or formula for yourself, or a budding perfumer eager to deepen your familiarity with a broad range of materials.
