Olfactory Artwork
The olfactory arts are at once ancient and contemporary. We are drawn to their elusive histories and committed to their wisdom. Perfumery is our invisible art practice. We design inspired fragrances that defy convention—free from norms, expectations and mass-market compromise. We believe that the intimate and articulate presence of aromas remain a fresh and generative space for thought.
With our perfume, your own presence is part of the spell—woven into the journey, felt in every note.
About our Perfume
We apply the highest and most up to date ecological and ethical standards to our perfumery practice, which we welcome you to read the details of here. This beautiful and sumptuous experience on your skin flows from its harmony with your own curiosity, care and self-identity.
At Cracher Dans La Soupe our fragrances celebrate the refusal of aromas to stay put, behave or delineate a perfectly rational and identifiable form, allowing this anarchic quality to guide our creations. Our perfumes illuminate this cognitive plasticity in all its beautiful, non-discrete messiness and ephemerality. Each scent is an invitation to play, to dream, to wander through realms of imagination and expansive awareness. Each one is a ritual of sensuality, luxury not as excess, but as presence, depth, and devotion to being.
Origens
The Perfumery began organically from studying traditional distillation and extraction techniques for use with local aromatic plants, foraged or cultivated here on the West Coast. We drifted into the intricate craft and chemistry of perfumery from this ancient starting point. This has become a comprehensive self-education which allows us to formulate with distinctive aromas unique to this region and unusual in perfumery; distilling fleeting moments into singular and chimeric perfumes.
The approach to formulation at Cracher Dans La Soupe stems from my painting practice that centres around layering. I like to work in the transitions between opacity and transparency that transcend any single sense—recalling an integrated and empowered state.
