Every scent you encounter is composed of a series of individual aromatic molecules, each with distinct characteristics and possibilities. Diffusion Bar offers direct access to this foundational level of olfactory experience.

At these monthly two-hour open studio sessions you can access the school’s own collection of aromatic molecules and raw materials for independent experimentation.

You'll have full access to the material library with no structured instruction or curriculum. I will be available to answer basic questions about specific molecules, offer safety protocols, and ensure basic handling of the materials and tools, but you direct your own exploration. No formulas or technique will be provided, as these are covered in our formal classes. There are no pre-requisites to attend Diffusion Bar, however taking Odorata or Chimera first, or the equivalent experience from elsewhere is strongly recommended as the materials can be a little daunting without an introduction.

Diffusion Bar is suitable for any experience level for experimentation, practice, nose training, creative outlet and potential collaboration. Materials and basic lab equipment are provided. Come hang out and make things!
