Molecular School

Streams

The school is loosely structured around three streams. The Scent Archive addresses the cultural, historical, and theoretical dimensions of scent. This stream includes research-based programming and opportunities to examine how olfactory practices have been shaped by different times, places, individuals and contexts.

Volatile Practices is a space for experimental and event-based work with scent. It is an evolving practice in itself, encompassing open studio formats, seminars and gatherings that foreground process and interdisciplinary conversations over fixed outcomes.

Accord Lab focuses on the technical and material aspects of perfumery. Through various hands-on sessions, participants work with aromatic materials and historical and contemporary formulation methods to develop their skills and test new ideas.

The three streams are designed to remain porous—allowing participants to move between them, combine approaches, and locate their own position or perspectives with olfactory media and culture.
